Privacy Policy
Information We Collect
SongLark may collect the following types of information depending on how you use the app:
- Basic usage data necessary for the app to function
- Location data when you use location-based features
- Account information (such as email address) when you register
SongLark does not use display advertising or offer in-app purchases. The sections below describe what would apply if we introduce either in the future; we will update this policy before we do.
Analytics
The SongLark website (the public pages at songlark.app) uses two analytics services. We use them only to understand whether people find the site and whether the pages work.
statscontext.com counts visits to the front page. It records the page address, the page title, the site that referred you, and any campaign tags in the link you followed, plus the country, device type and browser derived from your request. It also records when someone clicks through to Google Play or to the web app, so we can tell how many visitors go on to try SongLark. This is cookieless. It sets nothing on your device, does not identify you, and does not follow you to other websites. It honours your browser's “Do Not Track” setting.
Google Analytics 4 counts visits to every page of the website. It records the same kind of information, and it also records when someone clicks through to Google Play or to the web app. Unlike statscontext, Google Analytics sets cookies on your device to recognise a repeat visit, and Google processes this data as a third party. See Google's privacy policy for what Google does with it. You can block it with a browser setting, an extension, or Google's opt-out add-on.
The SongLark app on Android and iOS uses PostHog for product analytics and error reports. We use it to learn which parts of the app people use, where they stop, and what makes the app fail.
It records the screens you open; when you finish onboarding, pick a course, ask for access to a course, ask for a course in a new region, and start or finish a lesson (with your score); when the app opens or goes to the background; and the details of app errors. With each event it records the app version, device model, operating system, language, an approximate location (country and city) derived from your IP address, and a random ID that PostHog creates for your install. When you sign in, it links these events to your account ID. It does not send your email address or name.
PostHog processes this data for us and stores it in the United States. See PostHog's privacy policy. We do not use this data for advertising and we do not sell it. When you sign out or delete your account, the app starts a new random ID that is not linked to your account. To have your past app analytics deleted, contact us through our Support page. The web version of the app does not use PostHog.
Location Data
SongLark may access your device's location to provide location-based features. Location data is only used while you are actively using the app and is never sold or shared with third parties except as required to deliver the service.
In-App Purchases
SongLark does not currently offer in-app purchases. If we introduce them in the future, purchases would be processed by the Apple App Store and/or Google Play. We would not store or handle your payment information directly — transactions would be managed by the respective platform, subject to their terms and privacy policies.
Advertising
SongLark does not currently display advertisements. If we introduce advertising in the future, our advertising partners (for example Google AdMob) may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve relevant ads, and you will be able to opt out of personalized advertising through your device settings.
Account Data
When you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile information you provide. This data is used to authenticate you and provide personalized features. Feedback you send in the app, including requests for a course in your region, is stored with your account and deleted when you delete your account. If you ask for access to a course, or for a course in your region, we may use your email address to tell you when it is available. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time: in the app from the Profile tab, or by email. See our Data Deletion page for the steps and for what is kept.
Early Access List
Before SongLark opened on Google Play, our homepage let you leave your email address to ask for early access. The homepage no longer collects email addresses. If you signed up then, we still store that address together with the kind of device you signed up from (Android, iOS or other), the browser user-agent string that told us so, and the date. We use it for one thing: to tell you that SongLark is available. It is not sold, shared, or added to a marketing list. Ask us to remove your address at any time (see our Support page) and it is deleted.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
